Working days calculator
Count the working days between two dates, or find the date that is a number of working days away. Weekends are skipped, and so are UK bank holidays if you want them to be.
What do you want to work out?
Answer
Counting goes day by day: a day is a working day if it isn't a Sunday, isn't a Saturday (unless you tick the box), and isn't a bank holiday for the nation you chose. The end date is counted if you leave the tick on, so Monday to Friday of the same week is 5 working days.
'Add working days' moves forward or back from the start date and doesn't count the start day itself, which is how most contracts and delivery estimates work. For example 10 working days after Monday 5th lands on Monday 19th, if there are no bank holidays in between.
Does it include bank holidays?
Yes if the box is ticked, using GOV.UK's list for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, for 2026 to 2028.
Is the start date counted?
When counting between dates, the start date is always counted if it is a working day, and the end date is optional. When adding working days, the start day isn't counted.
How many working days are there in a year?
About 253 in England and Wales in a typical year: 260 weekdays minus 8 bank holidays, give or take the calendar.
What counts as a working day for delivery or legal deadlines?
It varies. Many contracts say Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays, which is what this does. Check the wording that applies to you.
Why does it warn me about the years?
The built-in bank holiday list covers 2026 to 2028. Outside that only weekends can be skipped.

Bank holiday dates are from GOV.UK as of 8 October 2026. Contract and legal deadlines can define working days differently.
