Image compressor and resizer

Make photos and graphics smaller for email, your website or an Etsy listing. Resize them and switch format (JPG, WebP or PNG). The pictures are processed on your device and never uploaded.

Use it

Your images

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or HEIC if your browser can open it. Up to 40 at a time.

80 is a good balance. Ignored for PNG.

Larger pictures are scaled down to this. Smaller ones are left alone. Empty keeps the size.

    How it works

Each picture is drawn onto a canvas in your browser at the new size, then saved again in the format you chose. JPG and WebP throw away detail the eye barely notices; the quality slider controls how much. PNG keeps every pixel, so it is best for logos, screenshots and graphics with flat colour, and it can come out bigger than a JPG of the same picture.

Because it runs locally, there is no upload limit other than your device's memory, and your photos are never sent anywhere. Phone photos are turned the right way up using their rotation tag, then saved without the location and camera details (EXIF) that were in the original.

    Questions

    Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. They are opened and re-saved inside your browser tab. You can switch your wifi off after the page loads and it still works.

    Which format should I pick?

JPG for photos you'll email or put on a website. WebP gives smaller files at the same look and works in all current browsers. PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with sharp edges or transparency.

What size should Etsy listing images be?

Etsy recommends at least 2000 pixels on the shortest side for the best zoom, and files under 10 MB. Set the longest side to 2000 or more, and use JPG at 85 to 90 quality.

Will it remove the location from my photos?

Yes. Saving through a canvas drops the EXIF block, which is where GPS position and camera details live.

Why did my PNG get bigger?

PNG is lossless, so photographs often get larger than the original JPG. Switch to JPG or WebP for photographs.
